The Information Technology & Innovation Foundation (ITIF) cites Science-Metrix as a key data source for its 2021 Global Energy Innovation Index

April 2022

As the world will mark Earth Day on April 22, research by Science-Metrix is helping to inform an assessment of national contributions to global clean energy innovation.

ITIF’s 2021 Global Energy Innovation Index (GEII) provides a “multifaceted assessment of national contributions to the global energy innovation system.” This report partly builds on research by Science-Metrix.

The study used as a key data source by GEII, “Publications as a Measure of Innovation Performance,” was completed by Science-Metrix for the European Commission to support the development of a composite indicator to track the clean-energy innovation performance of EU Member States and members of Mission Innovation.

The GEII indicators that rely on Science-Metrix’ research include GEII Indicator 2, the number of clean energy research publications; Indicator 3, the share of highly-cited clean energy research publications; and Indicator 19, international collaboration in knowledge development (co-publications).
