Science-Metrix welcomes you to the International Science and Technology Indicators (STI) Conference 2012 in Montreal!

Published on September 1 2012

This year’s International Science and Technology Indicators (STI) Conference will be held at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) Campus on September 5-8, 2012. The 2012 STI Conference is jointly organised by Science-Metrix and the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies (OST).

Follow the conference on Facebook and Twitter (@STI_2012), and add the hashtag #sti2012 to your tweets to take part in the conversation.

This event is happening during an auspicious year, as Science-Metrix celebrates its 10th anniversary and the OST its 15th. This is the first time that the STI Conference is held outside Europe. The Montreal indicators community is rightly proud to hold this honour, and the associated challenge.

The STI Conference, held under the aegis of the European Network of Indicators Designers since 2011, provides a unique chance for leading researchers in the field to share their ideas on how to improve not only the precision of science and technology (S&T) indicators but also the presentation of results – an area where advanced visualisation techniques play a growing role.

The main themes of the 2012 STI Conference are:

  • Theoretical, historical, practical and social aspects of S&T indicator development and use
  • Methodological aspects in the use of S&T indicators and the production of statistics
  • Use of S&T indicators in research and development (R&D) management and S&T strategy development and evaluation

The committee received 146 propositions of contributions for the conference, both papers and posters. Some 70 papers were accepted for oral presentation, in addition to 34 posters. There already about 200 registered attendees.

We look forward to seeing you all in Montreal!
