Mr. Grégoire Côté is the VP and General Manager of Science-Metrix and responsible for the company’s operations. Since the founding of Science-Metrix in 2002, he has been a major contributor to the company’s growth and success, as well as to its groundbreaking work in the fields of bibliometrics and technometrics. He was a founding partner of the company and was President at the time of the company's acquisition by Elsevier in late 2018.
As VP and General Manager, Mr. Côté drives, develops and implements the strategic direction and mission of Science-Metrix, and evaluates the company’s progress and success in aligning with them. He ensures all staff members are aware of and equipped for their roles and responsibilities, and that they appreciate how these contribute to achieving the company’s goals.
From 2002 until 2016, when he held the role of Vice-President of Bibliometrics for Science-Metrix, Mr. Côté designed and managed the majority of the bibliometric assessments performed by the company. He maintains a hands-on role in bibliometric projects, and frequently acts as project manager on highly complex projects, such as those for SRI International and the National Science Foundation, the European Commission, and many Canadian government departments and agencies.
Mr. Côté holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from Université Laval, Canada, and has completed several courses on the use of bibliometric data for the mapping of science and research networks. He is a lifetime member of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI) and a member of both the Canadian and American evaluation societies.
