Dr. Brooke Struck joined Science-Metrix in 2015. His role as Senior Strategist and Policy Officer includes both internal and client-facing responsibilities. Internally, his responsibility is to facilitate the translation of the firm’s corporate strategy into practice. His work with clients includes contributing to project design and management, research and analysis, reporting and general communication. He also leads research projects for the development of new indicators to measure scientific activity. These projects integrate research from the history and philosophy of science with emerging policy priorities and bibliometric innovations to ensure that new indicators are both strategically relevant to client needs and methodologically robust. Additionally, he contributes synthetic and critical assessments of science governance and policy developments through the ScienceMetrics blog, a forum associated with Science-Metrix Inc. Dr. Struck’s dissertation research focused on the notion of objectivity in science and how the research process contributes to objectivity, examining especially the processes of measurement and the relationship between quantitative and qualitative analysis. Dr. Struck is a member of the Canadian Society for the History and Philosophy of Science (CSHPS).
